The Mentalist's Patrick Jane and Teresa Lisbon have been dancing around each other for over five seasons but have yet to become an item.

While Jane (Simon Baker) could have used his "Fire and Brimstone" sunset stop to confess any potential feelings to Lisbon (Robin Tunney), he instead utilized it as a ploy to leave to CBI agent behind despite vocalizing just how grateful he is for her.

It is clear that there is still a lot that remains unspoken between the two sleuths. Series creator Bruno Heller hints that their feelings for each other won't be changing anytime soon.

"I think they absolutely love each other," Heller told TV Guide back in August. "Have they ever laid there at night and thought about the other one and what that would be like to be a romantic couple? Of course they have, and that's exactly what they're going to continue feeling and thinking."

Tunney, however, remains less than convinced that love is in the cards.

"Jane is adorable and brilliant but a completely frustrating jerk," Tunney recently disclosed to TV Guide Magazine. "Their relationship is a love story. But I don't think Lisbon would ever have the courage to act on it."

Now that the agent and her faux-psychic friend are facing a two-year separation, viewers will have to wait to find out how their feelings withstand time.
