Adele was the big winner of the night at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas. The British singer was named: Top Artist, Top Female Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, and Top Pop Artist to name a few. Her album "Adele '21'" was named Top Pop Album, along with Top Billboard 200 Album.

Coldplay was named "Top Rock Artist" and "Top Alternative Artist", while Lady Gaga was named "Top Dance Artist" - with her album "Born This Way" winning "Top Dance Album". 

Lil Wayne was named Top Male Artist and Top Rap Artist. 

Justin Bieber took home the "Top Social Artist" award. "I just want to thank all my fans because, you know, the internet is where I got my start and all my fans have helped me get to this position," he said.  

Katy Perry was presented with the "Spotlight" award. She is the only person to have received this award other than Michael Jackson. 

Taylor Swift was named "Billboard Woman of the Year". Swift thanked her fans, saying she feels humbled and honored. 

Musical legends who have passed away this year have been remembered in this year's awards. A tribute was paid to Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees, who passed away earlier today after a battle with cancer. Donna Summer - the Queen of Disco - was also remembered this evening along with Beastie Boys rapper Adam Yauch. 

The late Whitney Houston was presented with the Millennium Award which was presented to her daughter Bobbi Kristina and cousin Pat Houston.
