Emily Wickersham made her debut as Eleanor "Ellie" Bishop on NCIS on Tuesday and fans took to Twitter to express their mixed thoughts on the new character.

Many viewers compared her to Ziva David, a character played by Cote de Pablo for eight years, who left the show at the beginning of season 11.

"Bishop can't replace Ziva and can't be a part of NCIS I don't like when she sits at Ziva's desk and other characters have forgotten Ziva!," wrote one.

"So Bishop is the possible replacement for Ziva, huh? 1st impressions: she looks a little too young. And she's still no Ziva. Or Kate," wrote another.

Others felt Bishop isn't even needed as a full-time cast member.

"Do we really need a replacement? I really liked the extra screen time for the rest of the team. Less Bishop more Abby," wrote one.

"Meh...I didn't feel the "pah" as DiNozzo would say, but she was maybe a person that could be around once in a while," wrote another.

Still, many others weren't negative and praised the new addition.

"I really enjoyed Ellie Bishop, she was brilliant. And I look forward to see what she brings to," tweeted one.

"I loved Ziva, but after one episode on NCIS, I'm pretty much sold on Bishop. She's fun!" wrote another fan.

Will Bishop Fall in Love With Anyone From The NCIS Team? Find Out

In her debut episode, "Gut Check," Bishop was determined to help the NCIS team with a "high level security breach," which she predicted.

The breach of security involved the Secretary of the Navy, who was wired during a past confidential briefing. Bishop, who described the security breach in a threat analysis report two years prior, worked with the team to catch the guy responsible for the crime.

Turns out, the bad guy was one with bitter feelings over the appointment of the Secretary of the Navy, who had no military experience.
