In its recently published cover story on Transformers 4: Age of Extinction, Empire magazine gave away some plot reveals.

The publication hinted at how the fourth installment will begin and the supposedly extinct Transformers will resurface.

After the giants were wiped from the face of the earth in the previous installment, it is suggested that an inventor will uncover a buried Transformer, and the race will rise again.

"This fourth film in the franchise is something of a fresh start, and sees an Earth scarred by the events of the last three films but moving on after the disappearance of all giant robots," the piece reads. "When Mark Wahlberg's inventor, Cade Yeager, discovers a buried Transformer, the stage is set for the return of the giant beasties."

The story goes on to suggest that this film was somewhat of a fresh start with new lead stars, moving on from Shia LeBeouf's character and his family in the previous installment.

Cade's daughter Tessa will be played by Nicola Peltz. Shane will be her secret racing driver boyfriend, Stanley Tucci will play Joshua, Sophia Myles will portray his geologist assistant Darcy, Li Bingbing will play the CEO of the Chinese Transformers, and Kelsey Grammar will play the role of the main antagonist: a counter-intelligence expert.

"I'm feeling really good about this one. I love my cast," director Michael Bay told the publication about Age of Extinction. "There's a huge scale to this, but also huge soul."
