Olympic track and field star Lolo Jones, 29 said keeping her virginity is being harder than training for the Olympics and harder than studying college.

In an interview aired on HBO's "Real Sports" Tuesday night, Lolo opened up about her personal life.

"It's just something, a gift that I want to give to my husband," she said about her virginity.

"But please understand this journey has been hard. If there's virgins out there, I just want to let them know, it's the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. Harder than training for the Olympics, harder than graduating from college, has been to stay a virgin before marriage."

But she admits that many men have tempted her.

"I've been tempted. I've had guys tell me, they're like, 'Hey you know if you have sex it will help you run faster.'" She joked that her response has been: "If you marry me, then yeah."

Jones also tweeted:

"Twitteroverload. Yes I'm a virgin. #1 reason why I'm single bc guys deuce out when I won't put out. I do so to honor God & future husband."

Jones got international attention during the 2008 Olympic games in Beijing when she was a favorite to win the 100 meter hurdles. But she tripped and finished in seventh place.

Jones is not the only famous American athlete to have this commitment to herself. NFL quarterback Tim Tebow has also maintained he is a virgin and that he believes in abstinence until marriage.

Tebow however has never spoken about his relationships in the past or present.
