The Homeland season 3 finale will likely be a turning point in the show, with Brody's (Damian Lewis) life potentially in the balance.

Showtime released a trailer for the season finale of Homeland, featuring various scenes from season 3 set to narration by Brody.

"There's this man in Caracas who's a doctor," Brody explains in the trailer. "He called me a cockroach, unkillable, bringing misery wherever I go. This is about redemption, mine. I'm a lot of things; I'm not a Marine anymore. I haven't been for some time."

Showtime has revealed very little about the final episode, indicating that big things will happen that they do not want spoiled beforehand. It's very possible that Brody will die, as had been rumored throughout season 3, including Lewis' own speculation.

The synopsis for the season finale, titled The Star, is as follows: "Season 3 ends with security forces closing in on Carrie and Brody, and Brody struggling to find redemption. Meanwhile, Saul plans a last-ditch rescue mission."

Episode 11 of Homeland featured Brody fulfilling his mission and killing Akbari, the leader of the Revolutionary Guard. However, he went about things on his own terms and went against the U.S. government, leading Saul (Mandy Patinkin) to order a hit on Brody.

Carrie came to his rescue and will likely spend the season finale trying to help him escape Iran. It seems that both Brody and Carrie's lives will be in danger as season 3 concludes.

The Homeland season 3 finale airs Sunday, Dec. 15 at 9 p.m. on Showtime.
