The next season of Survivor will feature a minor celebrity from the world of major league baseball.

Local news in Florida is reporting that David Samson, president of the Miami Marlins baseball team, has been cast to be on the next season of Survivor. Samson has been president of the Marlins Major League Baseball team since 2002, taking his team to the World Series in 2003 where the team shutout the New York Yankees.

Florida news station Local 10 is reporting that a source has confirmed Samson's casting on the show, though the businessman is not able to comment on his potential casting at this time per the rules of his Survivor contract.

Samson will be on Survivor: Cagayan, which is referred to as Brawn vs. Brains vs. Beauty, the 28th season of the long-running reality show. Survivor: Cagayan features three tribes of six split up by their various strengths, with one tribe of physically strong players, one tribe of intelligent players and one tribe of physically attractive players.

Survivor: Cagayan is the first season since Survivor: One World (season 24) that every cast member will be new to the show, with each of the past three seasons bringing back players from previous seasons.

Survivor: Cagayan will air in spring 2014 on CBS, though the network has not yet scheduled a specific premiere date yet. However, spring seasons of Survivor typically premiere in February, so a cast and premiere date announcement should be made soon.
