The Red Hot Chili Peppers might take the stage with Bruno Mars at the Super Bowl XLVIII halftime show in February.

The Los Angeles Times reported on Friday that Mars will make the announcement during Fox's coverage of the New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks playoff game on Saturday.

The rock group, who last released an album in 2011, is also scheduled to play at a pre-Super Bowl party in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Feb. 1.

The announcement of Mars' performance at the halftime show on Feb. 2 in New Jersey was made back in September 2013. Despite the Super Bowl being held in a cold environment for the first time ever, the Locked Out Of Heaven singer said he will deal with the temperatures.

"Everyone's putting the fear in god in me like there's going to be a blizzard," Mars told Fox News in December. "I'm not going to know until I get there... I'm not trying to hype myself up too much... I know it's going to be cold and I just got to face it."

The 28-year-old singer also took to Twitter on Tuesday to let fans know that they "better prepare" for his performance.

Mars' performance will follow Beyonce's in 2013, which was lauded by fans. Previous performers at the event include Madonna, Prince, the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, U2 and Aerosmith.

"The Pepsi Super Bowl halftime show is the most-watched musical event of the year," the NFL said in a statement. "More than 110.5 million viewers in the U.S. watched last year's show."
