Season 2 of Bates Motel is just a few months away, and the show's creator Carlton Cuse recently teased a few details about the season, including info on Norma (Vera Farmiga) and Norman (Freddie Highmore).

Cuse spoke with Entertainment Weekly about Bates Motel season 2, saying that the season will focus more on its characters than anything else.

"Season 2 is very character-originated. There's lot of stories about Norman's love life and Norma's love life and we learn a lot more about the world of White Pine Bay," Cuse explained.

As for the constant incestuous flirtations between Norma and Norman, Cuse said that the show won't be going there just yet in terms of consummating their relationship.

"While they have a close relationship that complicates everything, I think actually having them consummate the relationship will have them fall into category of too creepy - at least at this point," he admitted.

Bates Motel's second season will explore the difficulties that come with Norma and Norman's close relationship. Norma begins to date a girl that Norma does not like in the slightest, which Cuse says will be a "fun story to watch."

The audience will also learn more about the backstory of Miss Watson (Keegan Connor Tracy), Norman's schoolteacher who was killed in the season 1 finale.

Overall, season 2 will be a more cheerful Bates Motel than season 1.

"It's a fun spin on the show," Cuse said. "The show is sunny, it's summer. All external appearances are bright and cheery. We enjoy exploring our town and characters. There's real twists and turns that come at the end of the season. I feel like the show is really hitting its stride."

Bates Motel season 2 premieres Monday, March 3 at 9 p.m. on A&E.
