Dancing With the Stars pro Tristan MacManus recently addressed the possibility of fellow pro Derek Hough leaving the show ahead of season 18.

Bruce Jenner & Other Celebs Set to Compete in Season 18?

Hough has won the past two seasons of Dancing With the Stars with partners Kellie Pickler and Amber Riley and five seasons overall. Hough's domination among his fellow dancers has led some fans to say that he should sit out of the next season. MacManus spoke with stephlpham.com about Hough sitting out in order to give other dancers a chance at the title.

"It's really up to Derek and where his ambitions lay, I guess," MacManus explained. "Either way he is a great appeal and would be a great loss - maybe he has a lot of good offers, but not what he wants has come up yet, we will never know! People might say it's the right time to go, but every season everyone has as much chance as Derek to win."

He then noted that it was funny how DWTS fans suggest that Hough is going to win before a season even starts.

"You can only do what you can and everyone is always too quick to assume who is the best," he said. "There is no doubt that Derek is unbelievable, but I don't think it's right to suggest that he has to leave to 'give the rest of us a chance.'."

MacManus has not had much luck with his celebrity partners since joining Dancing With the Stars in season 13. He placed fifth with Nancy Grace in his debut season but he has not placed higher than eighth ever since.

MacManus is expected to return for season 18 alongside Hough and many of the current Dancing With the Stars pros.

Dancing With the Stars season 18 premieres Monday, March 17 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
