The Guardians of the Galaxy have arrived, and fans can now get an in depth look at the intergalactic superheroes.

Star-Lord/Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper), and Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel) burst into the public conscious Tuesday when the first Guardians of the Galaxy trailer hit the Internet. Directed by James Gunn, the Marvel Phase Two film has exactly zero members of the Avengers, and many fans are probably in the dark as to who these new character truly are.

For viewer edification, Enstars put together this fast and quick primer to the Guardians

Peter Quill/Star-Lord - A legendary criminal in his own mind, the pilot of the Milano lived on Earth until the age of 9. Sarcastic and irreverent, Quill skates by on his wits and his '80s references.

'Peter Quill is not a superhero, he's just a guy who uses his cunning and his charm to get himself out of situations," Pratt explained.

Contrary to what some fans gleaned from the trailer, Quill is not a sex offender despite "illegal manipulation of a Gramosian Duchess" being listed as one of his previous crimes.

"Just to explain, Quill was seduced by the Duchess and, as anyone who has been to Gramos knows, it's illegal for regular folk to be intimate with royalty there," Gunn informed concerned viewers on Thursday.

Gamora - A solider/assassin formally aligned with Thanos, the green skinned Zen Whoberi now appears to have switched sides. That's doesn't make her any less deadly, however.

"Gamora is a stealth assassin. She's relentless, she's lethal, she's rough," Saldana said in a new featurette. "She can kill you but has a heart of gold, and I like that about her."

Drax the Destroyer- Massively muscular, Drax is on a quest to avenge his family's death.

"He's basically living solely for revenge. Drax is a warrior but he's a very emotional character but he's dealing with a lot of pain," Bautista stated.

Groot - An Ent-like creature, Groot is a Flora Colossus (read as sentient, walking tree) that has been traveling with Rocket.

Famous for only ever saying one line ("I am Groot"), Vin Diesel claims "Groot is one of the strangest characters Marvel has ever attempted to put on film."

Rocket Raccoon - Rocket is defiantly a contender for 'strangest character.' Wanted for car theft and previous prison escapes, the diminutive creature has a love affair with explosives and powerful weapons.

"Rocket has some real anger issues," Cooper joked in a Marvel featurette.

Guardians of the Galaxy hit theaters on Aug. 1.
