Trainer Rehan Jalali is in charge of getting Affleck into shape in preparation for the actor's new role of Batman, and the trainer recently tweeted about Affleck's progress thus far.

"Quick Update: Met up w/Batman and Operation Biggest/Leanest/Baddest Batman Eva is on schedule! #DarkKnight," Jalali tweeted recently.

Affleck is likely bulking up for the role in order to go head-to-head with Henry Cavill, who played Superman in Man of Steel and will reprise the role for the sequel.

Affleck has received a lot of criticism ever since his casting as Batman was announced in August 2013. Most recently, actor Seth Green criticized the casting choice, suggesting that Affleck was not capable of standing side-by-side with Cavill's Superman.

"If this movie is meant to be the idealistic alien, humans-before-all-else Superman, and this is supposed to be the grizzled, weathered Batman who's been living in Gotham, fighting crime himself for 10 years, you need a guy who's older," Green explained in February. "You need a guy's who's got more weight, you need a guy that a Henry Cavill Superman is gonna be actually scared of."

Man of Steel 2 stars Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Laurence Fishburne as reporter Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent and Jeremy Irons as Alfred, butler to Bruce Wayne.

Man of Steel 2 is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on May 6, 2016.
