It seems like Terminator 5 will be working off of the plots of The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
As we gather more information about the fifth installment of the hit sci-fi franchise, it seems like the pieces are starting to fit. In January news broke out that the film would be using time travel sequences to assist in the continuation of the storyline. Then a reliable inside source revealed to Screen Rant that Terminator: Genesis would move back and forth between The Terminator (1984) and Terminator: Judgment Day (1991).
Most recently Schwarzenegger spoke about working on the film. The action star suggested that the script of the film really reminded him of Terminator 2. It all seems to add up and fans can probably safely assume that they will be experiencing a double whammy with elements of the first two films wrapped in one.
The director of the film, Alan Taylor, had previously suggested that his inspirations for the reboot were derived from the Batman series
Taylor spoke about how much he loved the first two films in the Terminator franchise.
"We all love the first two and I actually went back and watched them again and my respect level only went up for those first two," he said of The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
The director went on to speak of a similar franchise being an inspiration for the fifth Terminator, suggesting that two films in the Batman franchise were "wonderful."
The film stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, who will be playing the role of a superhuman protector of the Connor family, Emilia Clarke, who has been cast for the part of Sarah Connor, and Jason Clarke as John Connor.
Pre-production for filming for the fifth installment in the Terminator series will begin in New Orleans on April 21. The process will begin with principal photography, which will take place from April 21 to Aug. 1.
Terminator 5 is scheduled to release in July 2015.
