It appears that Dominic Monaghan, who played Charlie in the ABC series Lost, may end up with a lightsaber in his hand for the next Star Wars flick.

Zac Efron To Get A Part In Episode VII?

The seventh film of the epic series will be directed by J.J. Abrams who worked with Monaghan on Lost. On Saturday, Metro posted a story about the actor who mentioned that he talked to the director about casting, and if he's been considered for a role in Star Wars: Episode VII.

"We talked about it a few times," Monaghan said. "Once I know that he was doing Star Wars I sent him a little congratulatory message and stuff."

Five Actors In Competition For Leading Role?

Whether Monaghan gets a part or not, he revealed that Abrams may only want to cast actors who are not big names.

"We've talked a few times about it and he said, 'We're putting together a cast of unknowns- we want to follow the '77 New hope cast because obviously Harrison Ford wasn't well known at that point, Mark Hamill wasn't and Carrie Fisher wasn't either," Monaghan said.

"What he said was, we don't want to fall into that mistake of people going 'Oh it's that guy from that thing! and then you're completely out of the Star Wars univewrse," the actor continued.

Monaghan then mentioned that if he ever does get an offer for a part in "Episode VII," he would more than likely say yes.

"Give me a lightsaber, I'll do anything," he said.

Star Wars: Episode VII is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2015.
