Sometimes, the truth hurts. Ironically, telling the truth did precisely that for Don Draper, the consummate fibber.

Back during one of his ad pitches on the sixth season of Mad Men, Don almost had a meltdown while rehashing actual events of his childhood, a period when he felt unwanted while being brought up in a whorehouse. Hearing him be so revealing and honest about his past caught his audience by surprise, and jaws dropped all around the room. Monday, NPR dished, "Don Draper finally told the truth, and it ruined his life. Perhaps that shouldn't have been such a surprise. Because Don has mostly been a master of the lie - especially in the form of an ad pitch."

Likewise, anyone who tuned into the April 13 Season 7 premiere, in anticipation of hearing more truths from Draper, quickly learned that that wasn't about to happen. On Sunday, actor Jon Hamm's character had yet another falsehood to share on the Mad Men premiere, in the form of yet another slick advertising pitch.

However, this time it wasn't the main "mad man" pitching the catchy ad himself, but rather his understudy, Freddie Rumson. Rumson is a recovering alcoholic whom Draper's firm purged long ago, but now the tables have somewhat turned. Since Draper is still disputing with his firm, Rumson is freelancing as his stand-in and delivering perfect sounding pitches for him. What's more, from the outside looking in, Draper is still a bicoastal advertising executive with a Hollywood starlet for a wife. But in reality, he is living in New York banned from his job and estranged from his wife. Moreover, in a recent E! News interview, Hamm revealed that he hopes his character finds "peace" in time for the series finale.
