Though Matty and Jenna appear to be on the way to somewhat rekindling their romance on season 4 of Awkward, the addition of a new male character could spell trouble for the two on/off high-school sweethearts.

Jenna Moving On From Matty?

According to an April 23 report by TVLine, the addition of Owen to the mix of characters in Palos Hills could spell some big trouble for those rooting for an epic Matty/Jenna reunion.

"...you might want to keep your eye out for Owen, a hot-yet-awkward new guy we'll meet later this season," the report says. "Described as being 'content to live on his own island,' could he be yet another one of Jenna's replacements for Matty?"

Senior Year To Have 'Super-Sized' Drama?

Ashley Rickards, who plays Jenna on the hit series, also opened up about the couple's romance this season when she sat down with Entertainment Weekly on April 22.

"It's definitely different than it was in past years," she said. "Matty's got quite a lot going this season in his own life. As much as it is them figuring it out, it's also not all about Jenna in terms of them not working it out properly."

Fans of the show saw on the most recent episode that Matty seemed to be ignoring Jenna post a hook-up, which upset Jenna. However, Matty revealed that his distance had nothing to do with her, and was in fact because he just learned he was adopted.

Jenna will also reportedly move on from Matty this season with older college guy Luke, who she will meet while touring potential schools for after graduation.

Awkward airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. on MTV.
