Italy and Germany are set to go head to head in the European Championship 2012 second semi final later on Thursday.

The teams have previously played exciting matches involving many goals. In 1970, the teams played in the World Cup semifinals in Mexico City which ended with a 4-3 win for Italy. The match is one of the most remembered of the tournament to date.

Although Germany stands as an Euro 2012 favorite, they have never beaten Italy in seven previous tournament matches including the 2006 World Cup semi-final and the final in Spain in 1982.

All eyes will be on Germany's Mario Gomez and Bastian Schweinsteiger as well as Italy's Christian Bonucci and Andre Pirlo

The winner will play Spain in the final Sunday in Kiev.
