As Criminal Minds just wrapped the finale of season 9, the producer of the show Erica Messner spoke about the upcoming season in a recent interview.

Finale Trumps All Shows, Including The Newer Ones?

While speaking to TVGuide, Messner revealed that the early renewal for the show has been a very good thing for the cast and crew as all of them will be able to enjoy their break. Last year, it seems CBS gave the show very short notice causing a more tense situation but this time around they can take it easy. This could also mean that maybe the release date for season 10 might be pushed.

"These last two episodes took a lot out of everyone. It's a lot of work, but the payoff is great. But everybody needed to enjoy their break this year because last year," she said, "we couldn't enjoy it as much since we didn't [get the early renewal], so everybody was afraid to go on vacation and afraid to do anything."

When asked about season 10, Cook said the next one will be more ambitious.
