The new season of American Horror Story is shaping up to be one of the craziest yet as new details continue to emerge.

'Clown Killer' & Bearded Lady Confirmed For American Horror Story Season 4?

Season 4 of American Horror Story is officially titled American Horror Story: Freak Show and presuming it lives up to the title, fans can expect a lot of colorful characters. Set in 1950 in Jupiter, Fla., Freak Show centers around one of the last remaining "freak shows" in America. The troupe of freaks is owned by a yet unnamed character to be played by Jessica Lange. The veteran actress is said to be working on a German accent for the role.

While few other character details have been announced, one that has everybody buzzing is Sarah Paulson's new character, rather, characters. Paulson tweeted a photo of herself as "Bette" and "Dot" with a new image of her with two heads on one body. As she notes in the caption for the photo, "two heads are better than one."

Jessica Lange's Troupe of Freaks On Its 'Last Legs'?

Other actors playing freaks in the new series are regular American Horror Story cast members Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Frances Conroy and Evan Peters. While none of their character details have been revealed, there is a bit of a connection between two of them. The Shield star Michael Chiklis is signing on to play a character in the new season, and his character will be Peters' character's father as well as Bates' character's ex-husband.

Meanwhile, Denis O'Hare, who appeared in the first season as well as Coven, will be appearing as a "collector of freaks" who gets into conflict with Lange's character.

Other cast members who have signed on for new roles in Freak Show include Emma Roberts, Gabourey Sidibe and Jamie Brewer, though nothing is known about what they will playing.

The fourth season of the series is said to have a mix of tones between the darkness of Asylum and the humor of Coven.

While it appears like everyone from Coven is returning for Freak Show, there are two who have not signed on. Lily Rabe, who has appeared in all three seasons of American Horror Story, is starring in a new series on ABC called The Whispers for the upcoming 2014-2015 TV season, so it is unlikely that she will be returning for anything more than a guest role, if that. Taissa Farmiga has not signed on for Season 4 either, as she is busy filming a new horror movie called The Final Girls.

American Horror Story: Freak Show premieres in October on FX, though the network has not yet announced a specific air date.
