The cast of American Horror Story recently spoke with Extra about the upcoming fourth season of the horror anthology series.

Lily Rabe Not Returning to American Horror Story After ABC Series Pickup?

The upcoming season is titled American Horror Story: Freak Show and centers on a troupe of "freaks" living in Jupiter, Fla. Owned by Jessica Lange's character, most of the cast of Coven is returning to play some variety of freak. Among them is Sarah Paulson, who is said to have the most challenging character that co-creator Ryan Murphy has ever created.

Paulson spoke with Extra about her character, and while she didn't say much, she did note that playing a freak will allow her to not care about what her hair looks like, given the New Orleans climate.

'Clown Killer' & Bearded Lady Confirmed For American Horror Story Season 4?

"The only thing [New Orleans] doesn't have going for it is the humidity and what it does to your hair. The good news is I'll be playing some sort of freak, so my hair looking good shouldn't matter at all."

Meanwhile, Lange confirmed that her new character will have a German accent and that the troupe of freaks will be "her show," though it is on its "last legs."

Angela Bassett said that while she will not be playing The Bearded Lady, a popular staple of "freak shows," she will be playing "something great," according to Murphy's hints to her.

It is unknown as to what most of the cast will be doing in Season 4, though fans may be hearing announcements soon as production begins this summer.

American Horror Story: Freak Show premieres in fall 2014 on FX, though the network has not yet announced a specific air date. It will likely be premiering in October like the first three seasons.
