The judges of America's Got Talent were astonished this week while watching a fifth-generation circus performer show his stuff.

Christian Stoinev, 22, is a hand balancer. During his introduction on the NBC program, he gave a little background into his family history. "What you might be able to do on your feet," Stoinev explained, "I can do on my hands."

 

Stoinev's great grandfather started a circus show in Mexico in 1888. Stoinev got his start at the age of five, when he took part in his father's balancing act.

The hand balancer has been performing ever since, though he knows that serious risks are involved in doing what he does. He went on to received a college degree from Illinois State University in order to have all his bases covered in case he ever has to leave the business, though Stoinev admitted on the show that hand balancing is his "life."

At 180 pounds, Stoinev awed the judges by balancing the entirety of his weight on a single finger. He was able to walk on his hands and turn his body while upside down, with one hand on a small beam. He moved with ease and agility, shocking the judges, who applauded the unique and edgy act.

After the performance, all four judges quickly voted him through with lingering awe and enthusiasm.
