Austin Mahone may be in the same genre of music as Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber, but don't expect the 18-year-old singer to take the same steps in his career.

Cyrus is known for her edgy antics as of late, including a mostly naked Wrecking Ball music video. "The shocking and risky thing that [Miley] has done has definitely got her more well known," Mahone told Digital Spy recently. "I feel like a lot of fans on YouTube and Twitter are like, 'Oh, don't go crazy like these people.'"

Bieber has been through a lot as well, including DUI charges. "And you know, everyone's definitely going to make mistakes," Mahone said. "But I'm not worried, because I've got a big family around me... who are going to keep me in check, so I'm not too worried about it."

Mahone said that he thinks "teen stars" tend to do what normal kids are doing, but "because it's in the spotlight it gets blown up." The Secret singer has been mostly known to be clean cut, as far as pop stars go.

It seems most important to Mahone to be better known by everyone all over the world. "It is a little strange, but that makes it more of a challenge for me," Mahone said about not being as popular overseas. "I want to reach every little part of the world. I want a fan base on each continent."
