Austin Mahone is one of the most popular stars in the world, but that doesn't mean he can't like his competition. Mahone, 18, recently revealed that he likes One Direction.

Austin Mahone Celebrates TCA Award Nominations

In a new interview, Mahone was asked if he was into 1D and he said yes. "I sat next to them at the VMA's, which was really cool," Mahone said. "They're cool. They were just chill and they're nice guys." When he was asked who his favorite member of One Direction was, Mahone picked Liam Payne.

"I think Liam's the coolest," Mahone said. "I don't know [why], I just think he's the nicest."

Someone Mahone also thinks is nice is his Mmm Yeah collaborator Pitbull. "He's great. He's always running around having a good time. It was a lot of fun working with him."

Mahone also said that the international singer was "humble" and a "family man." Mahone was just nominated against Pitbull for Choice Male Artist at the Teen Choice Awards. In the same category with the two of them are Justin Timberlake, Jason Derulo, Pharrell Williams and Ed Sheeran.

Mahone was also nominated for Choice Male Hottie in addition to Choice Smile, against good pals Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift.
