In terms of working on set, Piazza found himself working with a wonderful set of cast and crew. "For me the experience of working on the show," said Piazza, "Getting to work with the people from the top down, from Mr. Scorsese from the beginning to Terry Winter throughout... it's really been a huge part of my life."

Five seasons is a lot time, and the experience has had such an impact on the actor, that the 38-year-old New York native admitted, "It's [Boardwalk Empire] the longest relationship I've had creatively with anything so it's been a dream."

The series continues this season with a seven-year jump into the 1930s, which could mean more screen time for Luciano, who came into his own power during these years. While Piazza didn't say much about the season five plot, he did express the strangeness of it all coming to an end.

This season specifically I've been trying to kind of soak up each moment," explained Piazza, "Because a few months from now it's over, sadly."

Boardwalk Empire turns to HBO for its fifth and final season September 2014.
