Katy Perry's famous "spinning peppermint" bra has been declared a hazard by her insurance company and has been banned from future stage shows.

The pop star admitted that her wigs have been getting stuck in the rotating candy-inspired bra attached to her dress while she has been performing on stage.

27-year-old Perry told The Sun that her insurance company has banned her from wearing the item to her performances due to concerns about the high levels of strain on her neck. Insurers fear that the bra will cause the pop star to pull a muscle which will lead her to cancel future performances. A missed performance can cost millions to tour operators and their insurers, said the report.

"I keep being told the insurers are worried I will injure my neck", she told The Sun exclusively.

The insurers' other concern about her trademark spinning peppermint bra is that her hair keeps getting caught in the wheels.

"I seriously doubt it could be lethal but they want a new bra designed that will not allow hair to be caught up," she added.

"My hair got caught in the wheels of my spinning peppermint bra and began to coil around and around. I'm forced to just go with it so, by the end of the song, it looked quite like I was licking my own tit," said the 27 year-old. "What a girl does for her art."

Perry reportedly first wore the spinning bra on her 2011 tour in a candy-inspired outfit. She can be seen performing this original version in her documentary, "Katy Perry: Part of Me.". In the film, Perry's hair does not get caught in the moving costume.

A source told The Sun: "It may seem trivial but a simple pulled muscle can stop a performer like Katy from going on. Insurers don't care about the art or the fun - just the dangers."
