As post-production rages on for Duncan Jones with the highly anticipated blockbuster Warcraft, he has set his sights on his next project before the possible success of his latest film could tie him down again.

Taking to Twitter, Jones mentioned long in-the-works project, Mute, as his possible follow-up to Warcraft. Mute is a Blade Runner-esque sci-fi that takes place in Berlin.

According to SlashFilm, the story unfolds in a futuristic Berlin, where a silent bartender is looking for his abducted girlfriend. Jones has likened his film to Blade Runner in terms of the look, setting, and tone. Narratively, it has a tenuous link to Jones's Moon. They're set in the same universe, and Mute was to feature a cameo by Sam Rockwell's character Sam Bell.

Originally, Jones planned to follow-up Moon with Mute but ended up doing both Source Code with Jake Gyllenhaal and his current project, Warcraft, beforehand. He even toyed with the idea of making the story into a graphic novel prior to the movie's release with Dark Horse comics.

SlashFilm adds that Jones's wording makes it clear that nothing is set in stone just yet. That said, post-Warcraft sounds like as good a time as any for Jones to give Mute another shot. Jones struggled mightily to get funding for Mute, even after Source Code turned out to be a hit. But if Warcraft is a success, he'll have more leverage than ever.

Warcraft was originally set for a December 2015 release, but was pushed back to spring 2016. The film is directed by Jones from a script by Jones and Charles Leavitt. It stars Paul Patton, Ben Foster, Dominic Cooper, Toby Kebbell, and Clancy Brown. It is based off of the wildly popular online game, World of Warcraft.
