In a brand new television mini-series that debuts on Sunday July 14th, Sigourney Weaver will bring her 30 plus years of big screen experience to the small one.  In USA's "Political Animals," Weaver will play   Secretary of State Elaine Barrish, the divorcee of an ex-President.

Weaver's character, who had recently lost a Presidential bid, cannot come to terms with the fact that her womanizing ex-husband is a more well respected political figure than she is.

According to The Toronto Sun, the well-known actress said: "It's inspired by a lot of the families who have been in the White House and want to get back in the White House, so not only the Clintons, but the Bushes, the Kennedys, even going back to the Roosevelts. Our creator Greg Berlanti couldn't resist some of the facts about the Clintons. But that's where it ends. Elaine actually is inspired by a head mistress I had in grammar school."

When the Weaver was asked to further indulge about the obviously striking similarities between the show and the controversy-ridden Clinton presidency, Weaver made no denials, according to the Chicago Tribune.

"Some of the details are similar to the Clintons, but in fact, if you talk to the creator, he has been a real political junkie for most of his life, and he is fascinated by all these families who have been in the White House" she said.

According to CNN, one of the show's creators Greg Berlanti also had the following to say regarding Sigourney Weaver's character:

"I don't want to be coy of Hillary and Bill comparisons." he said. "Their resume is sort of the same and I liked the dynamic of a power couple. But it comes more from Madeleine Albright's book. We were trying to draw (on) what it means to be the first female secretary of state."

This highly-acclaimed six-hour drama will mark the 62-year old actress' first permanent series role on the small screen.

If you're into politics and controversy, the show will be a welcomed addition to your political palate.

"Political Animals" premieres Sunday July 14th at 10pm ET.
