Kobe Bryant has claimed that the current 2012 "Dream Team" roster would possibly beat the 1992 Dream Team, heavily considered the greatest basketball team ever assembled.

The 1992 Dream Team had the likes of Michael Jordan, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson making Bryant's claim all the more extreme. Many basketball fans would list those three stars among the very top players to ever play the game; the fact that they were all part of the 1992 Dream Team instantly makes that team one of the greatest, if not greatest ever.

Point Guard: The 2012 Dream Team would see the likes of Russel Westbrook, Deron Williams and Chris Paul - with their fans advocating their athleticism and speed would potentially make them too much for 1992's Magic Johnson and John Stockton. It probably can be argued, but most would have to hand it to Johnson and Stockton to come through this match up.

Shooting Guard: The Michael Jordan and Clyde Drexler combination in 1992 is as strong as you can imagine in any team. The 2012 Dream Team's Kobe Bryant and James Harden are both fantastic players, but again it would be difficult to hand this one to 2012, and the Jordan Drexler duo would surely beat any combination this year or any year since 1992.

Small Forward: LeBron James' physical strength is one of the stand out features of the 2012 Dream Team. Adding in Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant seemingly makes this line up exceedingly strong. The 1992 Dream Team would try and counter this with Bird, Chris Mullen and Scottie Pippen, but for the first time the 2012 side might have the advantage.

Power Forward: 1992's Charles Barkley and Karl Malone form a formidable line up here, and would clearly overpower Kevin Love and Anthony Davis in the 2012 side. This is probably one of the clearest differences in the two teams.

Center: Again at center 1992's David Robinson and Patrick Ewing would clearly have the upper hand against a talented but not really legendary Tyson Chandler.

The 2012 Dream Team is a fantastic line up and would be a handful against any side in the world right now. However, the 1992 Dream Team was simply irresistible, and although the 2012 side would put up a strong fight, most would argue the 1992 Dream Team, recognized as the most complete side of all time, would come out on top.
