The Sri Lanka cricket team is playing the South Africa team in a new test series that lasts from Thursday, July 24 through Monday, July 29.

Sri Lanka is playing South Africa at Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Columbo, Sri Lanka from Thursday-Monday. This is the second test series for the cricket clubs.

Sri Lanka's team consists of the following squad of players:

Angelo Mathews (captain), Dinesh Chandimal, Rangana Herath, Suranga Lakmal, Dilruwan Perera, Kumar Sangakkara, Upul Tharanga, Chanaka Welegedara, Lahiru Thirimanne, Niroshan Dickwella, Mahela Jayawardene, Ajantha Mendis, Dhammika Prasad, Kaushal Silva, Kithuruwan Vithanage and Shaminda Eranga.

South Africa's team consists of the following players:

Hamish Amla (captain), Quinton de Kock, Jean-Paul Duminy, Dean Elgar, Morne Morkel, Alviro Petersen, Dane Piedt, Stiaan van Zyl, Kyle Abbott, AB de Villiers, Faf du Pessis, Imran Tahir, Wayne Parnell, Vernon Philander and Dale Steyn.

So far in 2014, South Africa has the advantage with three wins over Sri Lanka's two when playing against each other.

As for the first day of competition, however, Sri Lanka has the upper hand:

"Sri Lanka overcame an early hiccup and scored a healthy 305-5 on day one of the second test against South Africa on Thursday." the Associated Press reported.
