"Mermaids: The Body Found" which aired on Animal Planet in May, was recently given a re-showing on the Discovery Channel at the weekend, and the few months since it was first seen has done nothing to dampen down the debate as to whether mermaids are real or not.

Thousands have been arguing for weeks and months now, about the authenticity of claims that a mermaid was found, as the program indicates.

In the description the program makers acknowledge that the content was science fiction, but also added that the content was "based on some real life events." This caused a debate over which parts of the program were real and which were made up.

However, for those with a close eye to detail, they may have already noticed that the program was just a documentary-style science fiction program - it was not real, and did not happen.

So again for the hard of hearing, or reading, the program "Mermaids: The Body Found" was not real. However, despite that clearly being made known, it has not stopped thousands of people from believing that mermaids do in fact exist. For some, even if the program was not real, they are still arguing that proves nothing, and that mermaids indeed could, and probably do exist.

"Mermaids: The Body Found" is simply a fictional account put together in a documentary format telling the story of a mermaid's body being found. Despite the program not being real, it still makes for exciting watching, and if you have not been able to see catch it yet, we recommend you do so.
