Angélil underwent surgery in December of 2013 to remove a cancerous tumor from his body. He was Dion's manager before stepping down because of his illness. The 72-year-old singer/manager is still involved in helping Dion make decisions for her career however. The Huffington Post reported that Angélil was first diagnosed with throat cancer in 1999, five years after marrying Dion.

Dion has decided to cancel her upcoming shows in Las Vegas and Asia to spend more time with her family. After her Vegas Residency, the singer was to go to Japan. She told Billboard, "I want to devote every ounce of my strength and energy to my husband's healing, and to do so, it's important for me to dedicate this time to him and to our children." The singer also has been dealing with throat inflammation, which originally caused her to put a hold on her performances since July 29.

A publicist for Dion has announced that the singer has requested privacy, explaining to ABC, "It's been a very difficult and stressful time for the couple as they deal with the day-to-day challenges of fighting [Angélil's] disease while trying to juggle a very active show business schedule, and raise their three young children."

Celine Dion's last album, Loved Me Back To Life, was well received. Best of luck to Angélil and Dion in this time of illness.
