Federal authorities have found a new video that gives further insight into the mind of James Holmes, the Colorado shooter, who killed 12 people and wounded 58 of them at a sold out showing of "The Dark Knight Rises."

The video was apparently recorded roughly six years ago when the shooter was 18. The footage shows Holmes amongst fellow students at a Miramar College science camp in San Diego. The killer can be seen giving a presentation on a phenomenon called "temporal illusion."

Holmes appears somewhat nervous in the clip but comes across as someone of intelligence.

He was given the following introduction at the seminar:

"His goals are to become a researcher and to make scientific discoveries.  In personal life, he enjoys playing soccer and strategy games and his dream is to own a slurpee machine."

In the clip, Holmes also explained his mentor's common interests in reality and fiction.

"He also studies subjective experience which is what takes places inside the mind as opposed to the external world.  I've carried on his work in dealing with subjective experience."

Holmes apparently had received a federal grant to pursue neuroscience. Non-characteristic of a young scientist, he was an introvert who seemed to have little interest in the internet.

According to reports, authorities are now saying that they have "evidence of calculation and deliberation," in how the once budding scientist planned for the shooting. Holmes allegedly began purchasing ammunition and weapons two months ago.

Wearing full riot gear, Holmes made his entry into the theater via emergency exit in the front right corner and released tear gas or a smoke bomb.  At that point, he began firing rounds of shots into the packed screening; which injured and killed both adults and children.

Police say that 30 people are still hospitalized while 11 of them are in critical condition.  Two others have passed away, which include aspiring sportscaster Jessica Ghawi.  One other person in an adjoining theater was struck and injured as well.
