The 2014 Best Video With A Social Message Award category was also home to works by Angel Haze feat. Sia, Avicii, David Guetta feat. Mikky Ekko, J. Cole feat. TLC, and Kelly Rowland.

Angel Haze and Sia's Battle Cry took on the issue of child abuse. The track was originally released on 2013 and comes from the musician's first studio album, Dirty Gold. Frank Borin directed the poignant work.

Avicii was nominated for Hey Brother. The radio hit went visual in December of 2013 with the help of Jesse Sternbaum. Focused on the relationship of two brothers, the film takes place in the Vietnam War-era.

For One Voice, David Guetta partnered with the United Nation's The World Needs More... humanitarian campaign. Guetta chose to fill in the end of that sentence with "Love" and the Michael Jurkovac video supported that message.

Meanwhile, J. Cole battled the war on drugs in "Crooked Smile" while Kelly Rowland used Dirty Laundry to talk about domestic abuse.
