New Twist Gives 'Amazing Race' Cast Chance For 'Immunity?'

The big reveal also gave more information on the newest twist in the show, which is being referred to as The Save-the new prize for the first team to cross the finish line of the first leg. Whereas previous prizes have included a chance to double the $1 million prize to a $2 million one by crossing both the first and final finish lines in first place (Season 21), as well as offering teams two Express Passes for themselves and another team of their choice, which allowed them to skip a task at any point of the race with no consequence (Seasons 22-24). The Save will instead allow the team that finishes first in Leg 1 the chance to save themselves if they finish last on any of the following legs.

The show, which is celebrating its silver anniversary, also returned to New York City for the starting line-which related back to where the race began and ended back in its premiere season.

"Starting here in Season 1 made so much sense because it is without a doubt the biggest melting pot in America," host Phil Keoghan told TV Guide. "So, the fact that it's 25 seasons, to come back to the city and reset and have fans there, it's great."

The new season, which will span 20 cities in eight countries, including visits to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, Valletta, Malta, and the Shetland Islands, Scotland for the very first time, premieres Friday, September 26 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
