The London Olympic Games 2012 is set to open on Friday, promising to be one of the most spectacular sporting events in recent history. To catch the action NBC Olympics is streaming live from London throughout the summer Games

London 2012 will be broadcast live on television on four different stations - BRAVO, CNBC, MSNBC and NBC Sports. However, the Games can be watched live through online streaming as well, provided by NBC Olympics.

The opening ceremony starts at 9 p.m. London time on Friday (4 p.m. ET). However, NBC will be delaying its screening of the eagerly awaited opening ceremony until prime time in the United States. Gary Zenkel, president of NBC Olympics has said, "We are live streaming every sporting event, all 32 sports and 302 medals. It was never our intent to live stream the Opening Ceremony or Closing Ceremony."

Apart from the extravagant opening ceremony, many Americans may be looking forward to the Men's Basketball. Team U.S.A. have put forward a very strong team, featuring top players from across the NBA, to be one of the favorites for gold in the Olympic Games. Many in the Unites States will be expecting the team, featuring Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, and LeBron James to deliver this year, and nothing more than a final showdown will do. The men's basketball final, Gold Medal game, will take place on August 12 at 3 p.m. London time (10 a.m. ET).

Overall there will be 12 nations vying for the gold medal in the basketball tournament at the Olympics, but the United States are undoubtedly one of the favorites. Going unbeaten in their preparation games, only Argentina seemed to provide any real stern test, and a team from host nation Great Britain was easily swept aside. Once the pressure of the Olympics begins, however, the true test for the American NBA players will begin.

The final can be watched live on NBC Olympics. A link will be provided to watch the game closer to the time.
