The former General Hospital star will play a new character named Sage on The Young and the Restless, Soap Opera Digest reported on Tuesday. The character is described as "intelligent, competent, discreet, and reserved. However, that reserve masks a well of passion and fire beneath the surface. She'll do anything for those she loves."

The 36-year-old, who is set to start taping on Sept. 24, will make her first appearance on the Oct. 28 episode.

"I'm incredibly honored and flattered to even be considered to be part of the Young and Restless family. I'm also thrilled to be working with [Executive Producer] Jill Farren Phelps again like we did on GH," Sullivan said.

She also tweeted: "I guess you've all heard? I'm honored to be a part of @YandR_CBS."

The news comes a day after it was revealed that original cast member Tom Hallick is coming back to the show after almost 40 years. The 73-year-old won't star as his original character Brad Eliot, whom he portrayed in the '70s. The actor will instead play a truck driver who helps Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) return to Genoa City, TV Guide reported on Monday.
