Infamous prisoner Joran van der Sloot is now a father.

Joran van der Sloot Ties The Knot In Jail

The Dutch man who scoured headlines after killing a Peruvian woman back in 2012 is currently serving a 28-year sentence. But his wife, 24-year-old Leydi Figueroa, gave birth to their 8-pound little girl on Sunday in Peru.

His lawyer confirmed the news and revealed the baby's name is Dushy, a namesake from Van der Sloot's grandmother, The Huffington Post reported Wednesday.

Jordan van der Sloot Not Charged With Natalee Holloway Murder

Her birth did not take place anywhere near the prison van der Sloot is serving his sentence in as he was recently moved to a remote and secure location all the way in the Andes after threatening to kill a warden. Before that he was serving his time in Lima. Back in 2012 he said that he impregnated Figueroa while she was paying him a conjugal visit. The two said their "I Dos" in July, just before he was taken to the Andes.

While he is prison for the murder of the woman he met at a casino, he is also the prime suspect authorities eyed in the shocking disappearance of U.S. teen Natalee Holloway back in 2005. She was last seen in Aruba. Once van der Sloot serves that sentence, he will be sent back to the states to undergo trial for a case concerning Holloway's mother. He has been accused of laundering $25,000 from her mother in exchange for a promise that he would show her where her body is located out in the Caribbeans.

Story developing.
