After three seasons, TNT's Dallas has come to an end. The network announced the show's cancellation on Friday.

"TNT has decided not to renew Dallas. We are extremely proud of the series, which defied expectations by standing as a worthy continuation of the Ewing saga. We want to thank everyone involved with the show, from the extraordinary cast to the impeccable production team, led by the show's creative forces, Cynthia Cidre and Mike Robin," a spokesperson in a statement.

The spokesperson added, "We especially want to thank the people of Dallas for their warm and generous hospitality during the production of the series."

The Dallas reboot kicked off in 2012 with 7 million viewers, but that number began to decrease over time. The season 3 finale on Sept. 22 only brought in 1.7 million viewers.

The show featured several cast members from the original show (1978-1991), including Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, and Larry Hagman, who passed away in 2012. The new cast included Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster and Julie Gonzalo.

Several of them took to Twitter to express their sadness over the news.

Brewster wrote: "Very sad day today. I will miss our awesome cast and crew most of all!
Thank you for playing with and watching us for three years! #dallastnt."

Gonzalo tweeted: "Sad day. Thank you for 3 incredible seasons."

Duffy wrote: "I for one am not done with Bobby Ewing! Let's see if some network wants the Ewings to live on! Love you all!!"

Gray tweeted: "Thank all of you wonderful fans for your love and support for these past 3 seasons. We were just canceled. So sad!"
