The retrial for the sentencing of Jodi Arias is slated to begin today in Phoenix, Ariz.

Arias was convicted of murdering her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander back in May 2013, but the jury could not decide whether to give her the death penalty or sentence her to a life in prison.

So now a new jury is set to make the decision. But it will not be a quick one as the retrial is said to go until December.

As for what will happen today, she will get a hearing concerning all of the evidence in the case. The opening statements for the retrial will begin tomorrow.

The retrial has once again sparked headlines and news concerning the first trial, which was extremely high profile. The personal aspects of Arias's life, particularly her sex life including role playing and explicit games were put on display for millions to see as testimony lasted 18 days. Arias is still out to let the jury know that she was only acting in self-defense when she murdered Alexander.

The specific details of that incident were also discussed as she not only shot him in his head but stabbed him more than 24 times as well as cut across his throat. She then left him in a shower with no clothes on.

While she claimed she was afraid for her life, the entire trial lasted for about five months and took the jury roughly 15 hours to decide on the guilty verdict for first degree murder.
