One Direction may be off from touring, but they still have plenty going on. The British and Irish lads met the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge last night on Nov. 13 at the Royal Variety Performance.

The boy band has met members of the Royal Family previously, including Queen Elizabeth back at this event in 2012. Previous meetings though amongst those of prominence haven't put the young men of 1D at ease though.

Daily Mail Online reported that Liam Payne said, "It's the most nervous I think I've ever been in my life."

Does One Direction Have A New Drummer?

Louis Tomlinson apparently believes he wasn't polite enough since he didn't say, "ma'am." Payne joked, "So he's off to a bad start," when Tomlinson shared he only said, "Hi. How are you? I'm Louis," to the Duchess.

Harry Styles' charisma shined through, covering his possible nerves as he congratulated Princess Kate on her baby bump. He said after meeting her, "I said congratulations on the bump." He added with humor that she "didn't look bumpy."

The band's encounter with William and Kate can be seen below in a video.

Prince William praised the pop stars as he and his wife discussed their music with them.

The band took the stage last night along with other acts including Ed Sheeran, Ellie Goulding, Bette Midler and more.

Now, we're just days away from One Direction releasing their fourth studio album FOUR. It's due out Monday Nov. 17. Below you can also watch the music video for their first single, Steal My Girl, off the album.
