Two-time defending champions May-Treanor and Jennings, from Team America, went out and held on to their title, taking home the gold once again for women's beach volleyball on Aug. 8. Their competitors were fellow Americans April Ross and Jen Kessy who lagged behind in 21-16 in both sets, though they tried vigorously to regain their momentum.

Jennings and May-Treanor were all screams when they actually won the match on Wednesday, falling to the sand and hugged each other tightly. They are walking away from the sport they love but with a dream fulfilled; three golds and remaining world champions not to be forgotten.

Each side served ferocious attacks and Ross and Kessy marked some of the game's fastest miles per hour serves. But Jennings and May-Treanor overall had a total of 42 points, more than Kessy and Ross' 32.

"We want to seal the deal that we're the best team that's ever happened," Kerri Walsh Jennings said before the match. "This will be our last match together, so we want to go out on top."

The team has already won two gold medals together and announced that this will be their last Olympic Games, which they hoped to end off with a third consecutive win. Their efforts were successful in securing that for them. They hold three gold medals from the World Championships and though Ross and Kessy made their Olympic debut this summer, they have won gold before - at the 2009 World Championships.
