For the past 14 years, BET has given artists the spotlight on their hit music countdown television show, "106 & Park." In its' inception, it launched the careers of personalities like AJ & Free as well as sustained rappers like Bow Wow and others. Every day, ten videos of artists from around the world would be featured and voted in by audiences, online. Now, the network has decided to switch all of the 106 programming to its' digital platform.

Former '106 & Park' Host Free Talks New Show & Best Memories of Show

After AJ and Free left "106 & Park" in 2005, things were never quite the same. Fans had fallen in love with the two hosts and often complained of missing them after their seemingly abrupt departures. Still, personalities like Big Tigger, Julissa, Terrence J and Rocsi seemed to be good enough to sustain the show.

In 2012, the network launched an international search campaign for new, undiscovered hosts but ended up choosing rapper Bow Wow (formerly known as "Mr. 106 & Park") and Canadian singer Keshia Chanté as hosts for the early-evening program after letting go of the finalists Miss Mykie, Paigion and Shorty Da Prince.

But, ratings suffered and fans did not seem to take to the new faces or the updated format. BET certainly tried to update the show but, after several attempts, officially announced that the last show would air on Dec. 19 in a post on the networks' website.

It's been a great 14-year run as America's top music/variety show on cable. And now that very valuable brand is going to take its talents to the digital realm. The interactive brand you helped build, 106 & Park, is alive and well...and it's moving to the space in which our audience NOW interacts with music the most: online. It'll be very exciting to connect with the millions of people that are already engaged with 106 & Park and other BET digital and social media entities and bring content that will further evolve the 106 & Park brand - and enhance the overall BET Networks brand.
