One of the biggest artists of the year, Taylor Swift, opened the show at this year's American Music Awards with her debut performance of "Blank Space."

At the start of the performance, Swift was shown on a romantic dinner date with a man, whom she quickly poisoned with an apple. She then found another beau, but it didn't take long before she kicked him to the curb. The performance ended with Swift finding a new man.

The 24-year-old's performance mimicked the song's music video, which has garnered more than 82 million views on YouTube since its release earlier in November.

"Blank Space," which is currently No. 1 on Billboard's Hot 100, appears on her fifth studio album, 1989. Not only is the album the best selling of the year, it's also the only one to have gone platinum.

"Industry experts predicted 1989 would sell 650k first week. You went and bought 1.287 million albums. AND IT'S GOT ME LIKE," Swift wrote on Instagram in early November to celebrate her success.
