Kelly Rowland's mother Doris Rowland Garrison has passed away at the age of 66.

"It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of my mother," the 33-year-old said in a statement. "She was an incredible soul who made countless sacrifices so that I could become the woman - and now mother - I am today. We humbly appreciate all the love and support and only ask for privacy during this difficult time."

Rowland's loss comes weeks after she and husband Tim Witherspoon welcomed their first child together, Titan Jewell Weatherspoon, on Nov. 4. The Dirty Laundry singer shared a photo of Titan's little feet on Nov. 27 along with the caption, "The most Happiest moment of my life -- TJW!"

Rowland and Witherspoon tied the knot in a secret ceremony in Costa Rica on May 9. Their relationship was also as secretive as their wedding. When the former Destiny's Child singer announced the news of her engagement on The Queen Latifah Show last December, she revealed that they had been together for years.

"He put a ring on it," she said. "It's been a while. We've kept it very, very low -- for years, to be completely honest."

She also revealed the unconventional way her beau popped the question. "It happened on Skype," Rowland, who was in Bulgaria at the time of the proposal, recalled. "But it was so late and we were honestly just staring at each other and he asked me and it was just that simple to say 'yes.'"
