She has been off-screen following an exit in October, but Sami Brady could soon be making a return to Salem on Days of Our Lives.

Allison Sweeney, who portrayed the role for over 20 years, left the soap in October, when her character headed to Hollywood after producers were interested in making a movie about her life story. The character chose to head off to Hollywood for the project after her husband, EJ, was shot to death in the town park.

Nothing has been confirmed as to whether or not Sami would come home for Christmas, but many are speculating that she could return, as the character's exit was left open-ended, and Sweeney herself said in the past that she would come back for special episodes.

Back before she exited in October, Sweeney did an interview with TV Guide, where she confirmed that she would come back from time to time.

"Sami desperately needs something to look forward so she's taking the kids off on a new adventure but the writers made sure it's not anything permanent and that Sami can come back to Salem any time she wants," she said. "Are you kidding? Days celebrating its 50th anniversary next year. No way I am missing that!"

Since Sami's exit in October, several new faces have come to Salem. Molly Burnett returned recently as Melanie Jonas, while Melissa Archer joined the cast as Serena. Also joining the cast recently was Christopher Sean , who has been portraying Sonny's (Freddie Smith) ex-boyfriend Paul.

Days of Our Lives airs Monday-Friday at 1 p.m. on NBC.
