While the Chrisley clan shows off their Atlanta mansion, luxury cars and wealthy lifestyle on USA's Chrisley Knows Best, the family has landed on the negative end of press including news of their bankruptcy and his first wife slamming him in various interviews; now Todd Chrisley has addressed their financial state as well rumors that he mistreated her.

"As far as my first marriage goes, I couldn't have been too bad because the court awards me custody of my children. And this woman was never present in their life from the time when they were 3 and 4 years old," he said recently.

"As far as bankruptcy goes, that was 2012. It's 2014. We have moved on. Our businesses are doing great and it was just a sign of the economy and things that had occurred due to other business partners."

Avid viewers of the hit series have seen Chrisley show to his children the value of hard work. He reminded fans that even thought hey are extremely successful, it was not always that way.

"What's important to remember is that we didn't come from money. What we have we've worked for, we've earned. We grew up very, very middle class or below. So what we try to teach our children is that to whom much is given, much is required."

He added that being a hard worker is something that all viewers can relate to no matter their walk of life or any other demographics.

Chrisley Knows Best has been renewed for a third season on USA.
