Gia Peppers: How did you start DJ'ing? Tell us about your journey to this point.

I started hanging around more NYC nightclubs. The music in meatpacking district started becoming so diverse and I loved it. The DJ's caught my attention... A close friend of mine urged me to try my hand at spinning and it was natural from there on.

What has been one of your fave DJ experiences? And Why?

I DJ'ed down in New Orleans for Essence Music Festival 2014; seeing the people's reactions to my mixes was absolutely amazing. Especially considering I was in a completely different state.

What is the one piece of advice you would give to up and coming DJ's?

Stay Hungry. Stay Humble. Stay Faithful.

How did "DJ For a Cure" come about? What is the mission of the event?

I started DJ For A Cure in 2014. Being a survivor of Lymphoma (Hodgkins Disease) I wanted to give back and bring awareness to the seriousness of blood cancers. Me being a DJ, I didn't want a pity party. I wanted to highlight these causes through creative art, music, lifestyle experiences and bring together some of the hottest DJ's in my network.

The overall mission of DJ For A Cure? To change the lives of those people affected from blood cancers and bring comfort to their families knowing there is an entire movement that supports them.

In 5 Years, what do you hope this cause will have achieved?

I want DJ For A Cure to achieve smiles, to achieve happiness and give people hope to step out and pursue their dreams despite obstacles. DJ For A Cure will be a movement that expands outside of blood cancers; we want to bring awareness to other disease as well, such as Autism. I want DJ For A Cure to be limitless!

What do you want people to get from your story?

I want them to see a girl who persevered. A girl who, no matter how many times she was told "NO," she kept on searching for a "Yes." I want people to know that not every step in your life is going to be aligned, but if you want something bad enough, not much can stand in your way. I want them to see God's grace!
