Following a drama-filled couple of months, the pop star, who split from Fifth Harmony singer Camila Cabello in Nov. 2014, has vowed to do things differently in regard to the coming year.

"All I wanna do is write great music and travel the world," Mahone wrote on Instagram on New Year's Day.

After starting up a romance with Cabello over the summer, Mahone and his new lady kept a low profile. Although they shared a handful of photos together on social media, they didn't confirm their relationship until November. At the time, Cabello admitted to being the girlfriend of Mahone when asked by Andy Cohen on his late-night show, Watch What Happens Live.

"She’s an amazing girl, and we have the best time together,” Mahone later said, according to Hollywire. “I wasn’t looking for a relationship, but we became really good friends when we were on tour.”

Weeks later, Mahone and Cabello called it quits.

"We're actually not together anymore," Cabello told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM morning show. When asked why they broke up, Cabello stayed mum, telling the host, "Hey, things happen."

Following the split, rumors circulated regarding the breakup, but both Mahone and Cabello have insisted on social media that no one was to blame.
