"Twilight" star is reportedly so brokenhearted over his breakup with Kristen Stewart, that he is "thinking long and hard about returning to London."

The British actor is thinking of going back to his hometown because he greatly yearns to spend time with his "mates" and family and "wants a fresh start."

"He never fell in love with Los Angeles and has always longed for home," a source told who knows the actor told RadarOnline. "When Kristen was shooting 'Snow White and the Huntsman' in London, he made his excuses to visit her as much as he could - he missed it so much."

"Despite making friends in America, Robert longs just to have a pint with the mates he grew up with in a local west London pub," the friend added. "He's just a regular guy."

While the "Cosmopolis" star has reportedly put up his $6.3 million Los Feliz home he shared with Stewart on the market, he has not yet set a date or confirmed the possible move.

"He is set to make up his mind very soon - his family hasn't put pressure on him to return - but he misses them very much and they've said they'd welcome him back with open arms," the source added.

The move may be the first in a series of steps Pattinson is taking to demonstrate that he's moved on from his breakup with Stewart after learning that she had a tryst on July 17 with "Snow White and the Huntsman" director Rupert SandersThe "Twilight" co-stars had been dating for three years.

After Stewart publicly apologized for the affair in a statement to People magazine, the British actor moved out of their shared home and reportedly spent two weeks at a luxury ranch in Ojai, Calif., owned by his actress friend Reese Witherspoon.

In a recent interview on the late night talk show "Jimmy Kimmel Live", Kimmel jokingly asked Pattinson if he was still homeless.

"I still am," Pattinson replied. "No, I rented this archway and I just live behind it. In one of those trash cans."

It was reported on Aug. 29 that he film company behind "Twilight" is secretly hoping that the former couple would get back together again in time for the release of "Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn-Part 2" when it arrives in theaters on Nov.16

Executives at Summit Entertainment are reportedly holding off finalizing press dates to promote the movie in hopes of a reconciliation despite the highly publicized cheating scandal.

"The studio's holding out to see if they get back together. But I don't think anyone is banking on that happening," a source close to the situation told The New York Post.
