Reports are showing that the Kindle Fire 2 release date is scheduled to be announced in the first week of September.

Amazon will take stage at a press conference on Thursday, Sept. 6, in Santa Monica, Calif., where many are saying they will announce the new Kindle Fire tablet and possibly other Kindle Touch devices, according to Gather.

"The company normally only holds events when it is planning to launch new devices, so there is a good chance that Amazon fans might see some new Kindles when that day arrives," The Christian Post reported. "The event will take place in Los Angeles, Calif. The company held an event last year in New York City where it unveiled the original Kindle Fire tablet."

Other devices are also rumored to premiere this month. On Sept. 12, Apple will hold a confirmed press event where they will, not confirmed yet by sources, possibly unveil the highly anticipated iPhone 5. On Sept. 5, there will be the event Nokia World 2012 as well as a Motorola and Verizon Press Event, a chance for more gadgets to be revealed to the public.

The New York Times said it heard from "a developer briefed on Amazon's plans who did not want to be identified talking about unannounced products," that the new Kindle will indeed have a bigger screen to compete with the 9.7 inch sized iPad. The new Kindle might be 10 inches, reportedly.

Zdnet.com reoprted on the already set rumors that the new Kindle Fire may come in both a 7-inch and 10-inch version. Another detail talked about by many tech sites include an increase in screen resolution: from 1024 x 600 pixels to 1280 x 800.

It has also been said that Target will discontinue selling "all Kindle-branded products effective this spring." For all Kindle devices, Amazon will most probably be the forerunner in selling them.
